A tough one for a change!

       The man in picture was the first person to accomplish this feat, and that too in 1879
   (A)
The feat is treasured by all and his feat is quite difficult to replicate, just 38 times till date. The feat gets its name because of the fact that (B) promised a prize to anyone achieving it.

Spot what 'it' is, and or who these guys are?  
Hat-trick, (A) is Fred Spofforth the first to achieve it and (B) is Sammy Taft, who offered a free hat to anyone who can score 3 goals in Ice-hockey, the hat eventually went to Alex Kaleta of the Toronto Maple Leafs, the photo is cropped version of him giving the hat.

The first people to get their names on the Scoreboard are Matthew, Rushab, PHS, Srihari and
